Preliminary task

The skill i have learnt from the preliminary task
1. chose a good location with hardly any background and a right amount of light needed
2. planing skills, i have improved planing to get everything needed for filming for a certain time
3. when editing the preliminary task I learned new skills to put into the main task

When comparing the preliminary task to the main task it is clear that the main task look more porfessinal because of the editing, film quality, setting and sound.
in the main task we did we a lot more camera angles however the main task is minutes long and the  preliminary task is 1.18 minutes.

The feedback we got form people about the  preliminary task was that is was not very interesting and that it was hard to watch because of the quality.

Respresentation

V for vendetta

The social groups we have shown here are the strong anti- new world order people a group that don’t believe in the government and the governments interests are not for the people, people that believe this are Alex Jones, David Icke , Anonymous and the people at Occupy Wall Street and other Occupy camps that were set up, this is the social group that Horus comes from this social background that is filled with different genders however mostly males and different ages for example with 12 year old explaining the crimes of the Canadian banking system link below- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axS-QdUkMqk&feature=player_embedded .

Alex Jones the paleoconservative

Horus wearing a T-shirt and jeans and handcuffed
In the opening scene, at the beginning two characters are introduced Horus and General C we all ready know that Horus is a prisoner because of the fact that he is handcuffed to the chair and because he is wearing casual cloths.
General C wearing a suit and tie

The General is wearing a black suit and tie this is too show his statues and power.

Horus and John are in the forest you can tell that this is a safe area for them because of the half burnt NWO posters and also they are meeting another member of the alliance. The reason there is burnt posters placed in the meeting area is to give the location history and to tell the audience that the rebels and military do fight and that this area has be won by the rebels and safe, this is similar to The Terminator 3 opening scene were John Conner is talking about the future and there is a match shot of skulls in the sea.

From the Terminator 3 opening scene

Burnt new world order posters

Back to the questioning room the computer screens have the NWO logo as the background the fact that they are background screens shows that the orders is much more powerful.

Target audience

Target audience

Our target audience are 15 or over people that enjoy thrillers and action movies also conspiracy theorist. We have appealed to the target audience by keeping the movie simple to understand even though of its storyline also by having a fresh and new storyline that is very rare is the media, the characters have be though the processes of Vladimir Propp theory about characters in a movie.
Horus- The Hero

General C-The villain

John- The helper

Weapons Dealer- The donor

The movie is targeted at the English specking population as English in the most common language and make the most profit however if this movie was to be published it would be available in different languages. Everything that is in the opening scene was chosen to be there from the location to the costume, all were chosen to build and create an understanding with the audience.

Questions

Questions

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
When we begun our media product all the characters learnt the lines and at the beginning of each day that we would shot there would be a briefing so everyone on the team would know what we would be doing, we also had a behind the scenes footage of the making of the product however the footage was lost in a accident.

Who would be the audience for your media project?
The social group that the movie represents is the conspiracy theorists mostly because of the theme of the movie and that it is based on the new world order conspiracy theories and the FEMA theories.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
We have learnt that without technologies this product would not of been half as good all of the tech played a important role from the tripod too iMoive. The movie opening was made using a technology iMovie the title is purely made with iMoive.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
From looking back at my preliminary I found a lot of mistakes such as background noise and editing also in the main product we made sure that everyone apart of the product knows the lines also timing deciding on a time to shot a scene was important because in my primary task we ran into lunch time (1.25) this caused some distraction.

Conventions

Conventions

The opening followed a thriller movie opening for example keeping the opening simple, dark and explaining what has happened in the past to lead to that type of world. Terminator 3 is an example of the similar conventions that we used LINK BELOW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACfIv8UUJag . Our opening scene looks like an opening scene of a thriller movie because it is simple, dark and it tells you about the past and how it has come to this, it is clear that the movie is a thriller from the beginning beause of its genre conventions.
Thriller Eagle Eye- questioning scene

Thriller FEMA- questioning scene
Title being played at the end

We have placed the title at the end of the opening scene this is because of the thriller conventions and it gives the audience a better understanding and a idea why the film title is called F.E.M.A work will set you free also in the back ground of the title there are a number of flame images this is for a dramatic effect.

Institutions

The company we chose was Universal Pictures this was because UP has more expectance than the other main film institutions also being founded in 1912 makes this company the oldest.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E98iTbFqRuM

The institutions has made films that have a similar plot and theme that are in this movie this will help because it means there are more experience and more ideas also trial and error results from the other movies such as Casino and Death Race 2 also with universal pictures the movie could appear in other universal subsidiaries for synergy. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End had a budget of $300 million to Universals benefit the movie will not cost that much mainly because there won’t be need for CGI and special effect but would be nearer to a James bond  Casino Royal budget of an estimate $112 million however this movie is not the oldest running franchise so I believe a budget of $165 million  would be actable, the reason why this movie would need $53 million more from the 2006 movie is simply because the items needed do cost more nowadays
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgNxKOLrAyA&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL69346D73BC227C76

$40 million would be the ideal amount to spend on marketing however this could be pushed down if there is a viral adds this does seem to work this has been done by Clover field and The Dark Knight. If the movie has high standards, good actors and a good director and is believe to make a high profit it should be shown first in the cinema the to DVD and also should be available to watch online form services such as Love Film. If a TV channel choses to buy the license for this movie it would be most likely film 4 and shown at weekdays at 9.
100th anniversary intro

For our product we used the 100th anniversary into, we used the intro because it is the institution we used and the 100th anniversary intro to celebrate the 100th year for the company, it also makes the product look more professional and is a great build up to the scene

Technologies

I personally believe that the technology when making a film is what makes it a good film. So form the start me and caradyn knew that our opening scene will not come close to for example James Bond Quantum of solace open scene  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfYC_CBNtiM

What we used for making the video production we used a number of cameras form different price ranges and makes to see what would work with us and we found that the best candidate was the FUJIFILM FinePix S4000HD it took the video at a great quality then thankfully the sound was great to it was hard to believe that such a compact camera had such a unbelievable microphone built into it.
The editing software was on a Mac when I was told that we will be using Mac’s I felt like I had just been run over however over time and research I learn to love not the Mac but iMovie soon I learned new skills that make the opening scene look more and more professional. At first we wanted to have an amazing title score but when we tried to use garage band it ended up to be a waste of a hour lesson so then we turned to iMovie then added a sound effect that was easy to add and added a huge effect to the title scene.
In our opening scene we have a few for example the heilpoter sound and the arlam sound.
Here are some of the tutorials I watched:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YbA-g1meCg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEJjvhnA1wQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZ06TKZg360&feature=relmfu

The scene with the helicopter sound effect
The helicopter sound effect was added so the audience would understand the military control the government would have in a new world order.
The scene when Horus and John place the bombs around the camp
Inserting the location and time is a future that is in iMoive this gave the audience more understand of what Horus and John are doing, also this does fit to a thriller convention.

Title

the title was made just with iMoive and downloaded footage with an added sound effect that was drone suspense, everything that you see was made to fit to thriller conventions and to give a dramatic effect, the font is  strong and emotionless, the explosions means power and destruction and its the theme of the film also a high quality explosion appeals to the audience.
The process that the product went though was simple first we sent questionnaires and put people in focus groups to find out the audiences reaction to the theme then we started filming when the filming was done editing began when the product was finished the product went through another focus group and questionnaires.

All of our work has been posted on the internet, specially a site called blogger this was so our teacher can look at our work at any time and so the examiner can watch our main task and look at our planning and research however our main task and preliminary task were posted on YouTube and then posted on the blog this was so out audience could look at the product and give us feedback. But I believe that using blogger is both boring and make the twice as long maybe Facebook would have been better seeing as more people are already on Facebook and anyone can make a page just for our media work, I'm saying this because most people are already on Facebook and going on our page would be much quicker and easier to access also it would have been just as safe to go on Facebook.
