New tricks
In the car, the viewer’s go straight to the two men talking this is where the camera goes to shot reverse shot to make us feel as if we were in the car too also to show us where the men are and what they are doing, and at this time they are in the car talking, then they are interrupted by a women, what we see is a women dressed unusually for the time of year and weather for this and the shallow depth to the girl implies that she might be prostitute. What we can see form the older man is that he is very old fashioned this is easy to tell by the cloths that is wearing they are old fashioned, old styles and as he is the dominant male in the car he has chosen the music in the car the song in the background is an old song, a song that he would of listened to whist in his teens however there is a chilled smooth, cold, chilled non-diegetic sound in the background. Next we see another older male dressed in yellow that is a bright colour and is meant to make you stand out to driver and such but whist in the phone booth he acts mysteries and distant this fights against the fact that he is trying not to be noticed and seem normal this could suggest that the male in yellow is less mature than the older male in the car.
The first time the female and the older male meet the viewer first know because of the long shot of his car coming forward to the women. The women notices that the slow drive as the universal sign of wanting a prostitute whist playing a slow, low volume and slowing rise in tone music in the background signing to the viewer that some action is going to appear soon. What is first notice about the women is that she dresses very similarly to the other women form the first part of the clip this is stereotyping prostitute as wrongly dressed and young. Next her language and sturetuce she’s uses is very improper and uses a lot of slang “alrite coper” when they are talking a shot reverse shot is used and the older males stays in charter the whole time and tells her the truth “he’s a coper” then there is a long shot of all the charters and to show the women’s action. The woman screams and kicks the overweight males and kicks the males groin showing that she knows that she is in the wrong, what she can do to cause damage and that she’s a strong and impendent women.
The chase, the women is first to run we focus on the women running first because there is a shallow focus on her first, what else is noitceable is that the music is much faster and louder to rise the viewer’s exigent and scepence. Both of the older males start running however the overweight male is left behind but soon the old fashioned styled male runs out of breath and decides to have a cigarette this is stereotyping the older male as un educated on medical subjects and are un able to complete physical tasks unlike the younger female that has got a breathing pattern and has her eyes forward whist running however she is shouting in different areas we can tell by the handheld and dolly tracking we can see the background she is shouting for help this could stereotype younger people expect help for anywhere and believe it’s available 24/7. Whist the older man dress in yellow (biking clothes) at one point to talks to the bike or himself “just like old days” this could suggest that the older person were socially deprived as in there wasn’t as much social communication and this might lead to older people to be confused about what they can talk to as they see younger people talking into phone and now even talking to phones also shows us how old the male is “just like old times” is usually what much older people talk about the memories they can remember. Toward the end of the chase the women runs down a path were a bike is unable to, the biker try’s to stop we can tell he did by the sudden close up of the biker pulling the brakes the way that age is shown is that the older person won’t be able to take the risk of riding over the stairs so even though the older male has got an advantages side by riding a bike in a chase he’s not young enough to take big risks when he stops the music stops too however it doesn’t stop by fading it stops by the pulling of the older males brakes to emphasize that the action has stopped. The older male is passed out on top of the younger female this could suggest that the older people are trapping the younger people over there control and power we see this by the two shot the camera provides and a zoom of the old fashioned male and a close up of him taking a photo this also shows us his old styled humour.
Next in the hospital the hospital is the place where the old die and the new and born so this could be a message to the biker that if he does these sorts of actives he will hurt himself much worse, the is a dolly track shot of a women walking to the bed and it’s his wife this also shows his age and the broadness of his wife appearing to the hospital. Next in the questioning room for the young women this builds up the stereotype that younger people are trouble markers and criminals and that she is wild and out of control in the questioning room then the camera pans to the older male and we still hear the younger female but it has been edited to sound as if her voice is being played from a microphone
To conclude both age groups are shown as weak and out of control.
