Spooks Extract.AS Media Studies OCR

At the beginning of this clip there is a high angle shot to show us who are the people in charge at the moment and they are the two people not tied up. Frist we notice that the leader talking to the people is not wearing a tie but an open-necked shirt this gives us a clue of his ethnicity because in Middle Eastern country for example Iran ties are viewed as un-Islamic and have be said by the country’s supreme leader to contributing to the spreading of western culture. However the male talks about the news and there is a shallow focus when the camera fits in the woman, she is in the rule of thirds, he carries on to talk about the new and confirm that he is frim Iraqi when he say “my people” and “my country men” and also “to Iraq” also he says “Iraq” he says it in the accent of his 1st language. “We are all Al-Qaeda now” basically brands all Iraqi’s as terrorists meaning all Iraqi’s will try and take revenge for the war in Iraq. When the women specks the camera angle goes to an eye match shot of the other agents that is tied up. Next the male asks the female to read a message into the camera when but when she’s asks question’s her panther is at risk “that man can cut your throats very easily the male with a mask has a gun in the scene but would rather go to cut his throat.”
Many camera angles are used though out such as POV (point of view) to emphasize that fact that this is secret with only one another handheld camera in the field of vision in one part of the clip also with the POV shot in this since we see what the character is seeing even the short looks at the other individual tied up giving the look of desperation to the character. Handheld is used to show us the drama that’s being taken place also takes away the fact that this sort of issues isn’t just made for TV but actually occurs. Close ups at such thing for example the camera an editing effect is also used to and that is pulling focus to add dramatic meaning to the object and what is going to happen in a lot of terrorist gender movies the handheld camera on a tri pod that means the hostage is going to demand such item to keep them alive. The ethnicity of the officers is important to the male because they’re western spies and the Iraqi’s are represented as people who have gave up and act through any means necessary but the people who started the ‘war on terror’
